Ok, so it feels as though the Doctor Strange hype has just ended and I’m already excited for Marvel’s new 2017 film releases! The MCU cinematic universe is racing through ‘phase 3’ of its film plans with Spiderman: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The slightly separated X-Men franchise is also getting another Wolverine film with Logan! I seriously cannot wait for these three especially after all the sneak peeks and trailers we have had so far!
After a great 2016 year of Marvel character madness, namely Deadpool, Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse AND Doctor Strange, it can only get better and better. Being a Marvel fan can sometimes be a costly endeavor, but I hope it’s one that’s going to be worth it! Here are all the trailers and information so far on Marvel’s 2017 film releases!
Spiderman: Homecoming (July 2017)
The first outing of Tom Holland’s Spiderman in Captain America: Civil War was certainly a welcome one. There have been plenty of Spiderman films already, but the web crawler’s ability to swing between film companies has led to some film inconsistency. There’s nothing wrong with Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield as Spiderman, it’s just Holland in Civil War made me more excited for Spiderman than ever before. He seems to be the young and nerdy Peter Parker that we’ve all been waiting for! Although we haven’t seen a trailer yet
Although we haven’t seen a trailer yet, there are massive hints that Spidey will be taking on the Vulture this time round and possibly the Shocker? There doesn’t seem to be much certainty as to the exact plot of Homecoming yet and there’s merely rumours circling at the moment. We do know that Marisa Tomei will be back as Aunt May and the legendary RDJ will be showing up as Tony Stark. There are plenty of confirmed actors and actresses which are all a simple Google away!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (April 2017)
Considering Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favourite films from the MCU, I simply cannot wait for the next installment of GOTG! It’s the music, the characters, the humour and the Groot that make me love this little Marvel space team. Recently, there was a big trailer and new poster that proved how hooked on a feeling we all really are!
Arguably not the most ground-breaking trailer of all time, but still, the Guardians are well and truly back! Rather than confirming any sort of the plot, the trailer pointed itself more at revealing which characters will make a welcome return. However, I think it’s fair to say we were all looking out for Baby Groot! There are returns for Yondu and Nebula, appearances from new villains and a fatherly revelation with Kurt Russell – its gonna be good!

Thor: Ragnarok (October 2017)
Despite not being the most popular string of films in the MCU, I quite enjoyed both of the Thor movies. Anything which gives those glorious blonde locks an outing is surely worth anyone’s time! The next instalment of the Asgardian’s franchise will bring back Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, and Idris Elba as, I assume, the search for Odin begins. It also seems as though Mark Ruffalo will be joining the demi-god action (perhaps in a Gladiator suit?!) as we saw him drift off into space the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Also, a little post-credits scene at the end of Doctor Strange shows Thor and Stephen enjoying a beer together so we could see some reality-bending action in this Thor sequel.
I think the hype for Thor: Ragnarok is considerably less than the other Marvel 2017 film releases, although the studios are certainly trying to make it bigger and better by adding a lot of characters from the rest of the franchise!
Logan (March 2017)
Despite having a trailer that really didn’t resemble your usual superhero action flick, I’m possibly more excited for Logan than I am for the rest of Marvel’s 2017 film releases! This film looks to be more gritty than other superhero movies. It is sadly Hugh Jackman’s last outing as the adamantium-clawed unkillable man. It seems in a world without mutants Wolverine and Charles Xavier (Stewart, not McAvoy) must rely on a little girl to help their race survive.
This was a truly glorious trailer with ‘Hurt’ by Johnny Cash making it more emotional than I ever expected to be! I reckon it will be a sob-fest and one that I’m really looking forward to. I have enjoyed plenty of X-Men movies, although it’s fair to say that some of the Wolverine films, in particular, have been a little lacking compared to others. I really hope Hugh manages to go out on a high, as so far it really looks like he will be!
