On my look through the WordPress Reader the other day, I found this great post called ‘Movie Love Tag’ which encourages film bloggers to talk about some of their favourite films and then pass it on to someone else to do. Sounds like a quick bit of fun that’ll get people linking to other great film blogs out there, so here goes… all you have to do is name the following:
A movie could you not live without.
Just anything Star Wars related. I love everything about the film franchise with both its new and old instalments. As much as I love the classics I really did enjoy The Force Awakens. The best nostalgia trip ever, and a film that I’ll always be happy to watch.
A movie you hate.
I could not stand watching Year One with Jack Black and Michael Cera as cavemen. I think I may have turned it off within the first half hour. I think maybe the Twilight Saga is a close second, I just can’t stand those films, the love triangle is too cringe for me.
A movie you found meaningful and prolific.
One of the most moving, yet enjoyable films I’ve seen has to be The Green Mile. The epic film starring Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan is based on a Stephen King novel about a man with miraculous healing powers waiting to be executed on Death Row. There won’t be a dry eye in the house during this masterpiece.
A movie that you’d like to possibly revisit because it’s been so long since you last saw it.
I think I need to rewatch most of the Lord Of The Rings franchise. They are truly epic and iconic films that have stood the test of time, they just simply require a large chunk of time set aside to watch them! I really need to set some time aside and give them the attention they deserve!
Your favourite horror movie.
As much as I love the Scream film franchise, I think You’re Next has to be one of my favourite horror films. Fast-paced and full of edge-of-the-seat stuff, this film is extremely tense with a large amount of gore to match. Definitely one of my favourite horror films and I’ve seen quite a few!
A movie you thought would be a lot better than it actually was.
I think this has to go to La La Land. From reviews and general news coverage on this film, I was expecting to be blown away. Don’t get me wrong, it was a really good film, just thought the hype and talk of Oscars built the film up to something more than it really was. (Check out my review here!)
The last good movie you saw.
Get Out was good, but the best film I’ve seen recently has to be Logan. A huge achievement of superhero and comic book brilliance which wonderfully completed Hugh Jackman’s reign as Wolverine. It’s a Marvel film unlike any other, with plenty of action and gore to boot. (Check out my review here!)
A movie you really want to see.
Looking forward to every Marvel film coming this year and cannot wait for The Last Jedi. Although I am particularly looking forward to seeing War of The Planet Of The Apes. Two awesome films have led up to this third instalment and I hope this one is just as good!
A popular movie that you’ve never seen, but everyone else has.
I’d go for something like Trainspotting, especially since the sequel has only just come out. Have heard some mixed opinions on the original film so I think it’s something I need to try out for myself. Possibly add The Godfather trilogy to this part, I need to see them!
Your favourite Christmas movie.
Definitely Love Actually, with A Nightmare Before Christmas and Arthur Christmas coming second and third. All great films, but it’s just not Christmas without the feel-good and festive feeling you get from Love Actually!
I think credit for the original idea should go to the blog gettingthroughanxiety and then I found it through The Cinematic Explorer. I think it would be great for some of my favourite film bloggers to also give it a go: Box Office Buzz, The Geeky Critic, Popcorn & Film and The Wolf And Corona. All great film review blogs, if anything else you should go and check these guys out!
