The first official trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther has been released, and it looks fricken awesome! We first met T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War and with the final credit scene also showing a glimpse of the Black Panther’s secret lair (where the Winter Soldier is now being hidden). Now Chadwick Boseman is back for the Black Panther solo film. If you haven’t checked out the trailer yet, have a look below:
Black Panther Trailer:
Now you’ve certainly seen the trailer, let’s have a closer look and see who we can spot in the trailer, and most importantly, who they are!
1. Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther
(Duh!) The vibranium suited kitty cat with claws looks in trouble. With his homeland is under severe threat, perhaps due to his harbouring of Bucky Barnes, or perhaps otherwise. I very much like the look of the panther skulking in the shadows deflecting bullets and probably protecting his people. He was a great character in Civil War and one that is certainly good enough for his own film and a larger part in the MCU franchise.
2. Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue / Klaw
Remember the arms-dealer Ultron visits in Avengers: Age Of Ultron? That’s the guy who stole a whole load of vibranium metal from Wakanda and used to know Stark during his weapon dealing days. He states in the trailer that he’s the only one to have ever seen the true mythical side to Wakanda so you can be sure that Klaw is going to be a pretty big threat to the Wakandians. Check out more on the comic-book character here: Klaw.
3. Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross
Remember that mean guy who confiscated Captain America’s shield and Falcon’s wings during Civil War? Well, he’s back as well! The trailer shows him in an interrogation room with Klaw with T’Challa looking on. He must be feeling a little sheepish for failing to prevent Zemo’s attempt to control the Winter Soldier, so maybe it’s time for him to redeem himself. Find out more about the comic book character here: Everett K. Ross.
4. Forrest Whitaker as Zuri
Yes, that spotted guy we kept getting glimpses of was Forest Whitaker! Whitaker’s moving his way around the franchises, with his recent role as Saw Gerrera in Rogue One. According to the Marvel Wiki, Zuri is a loyal follower of T’Chaka (the King of Wakanda who died at the bombing in Civil War) and is considered a great Wakanda warrior.
5. Danai Gurira as Okoye
Was pretty excited to see The Walking Dead‘s Michonne cast in a new Marvel film! Danai Gurira certainly plays badass fighter roles well, and she certainly looks the part here. Michonne is the master of side eye, so hoping to see plenty of that! In the comic books, Okoye is one of the wives-in-training to the King of Wakanda. However, this band of females is really a ring of highly-skilled bodyguards who really aren’t to be messed with!
These are only a few of the big names that appear in a star-studded Black Panther cast. Michael B. Jordan will also star as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o plays Nakia (another female bodyguard) and Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya stars as W’Kabi. We’ve got a long time to wait until film release in February 2018, but I’m certainly looking forward to this one!
It’s actually really cool how the movies connect (even if it’s just small pieces in each movie). Enjoyed the teaser and I’m super excited for the movie! Awesome post!
